According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, the 49ers have activated ILBย NaVorro Bowman from the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday.
This is interesting given thatย ESPN’s Ed Werder reported earlier in the day that Bowmanย didย not expect to play this season.
Bowman has beenย cleared to practice for a few weeks nowย after he worked his way back from aย serious knee injury that included tearingย his ACL and MCL last year.
San Francisco hasย actually held up pretty well without Bowman and Patrick Willis in the lineupย asย Michael Wilhoiteย and rookie Chris Borland haveย as stepped in and produced.
Bowman, 25, signed aย seven-year, $46.37 million contract that included $25.5 million guaranteed back in 2012. However, he laterย converted $3.27 million of his $4 million base salary into a signing bonus to free up some cap space.
When healthy, Bowman has proven to be one of the best linebackers in the league.ย In 2013, he totaledย 145 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and two recoveries for the 49ers.ย Pro Football Focusย has him rated asย the No. 1 overall inside linebacker last season.
