The San Francisco 49ers officially activated WR Trent Taylor from the COVID-19 list and signed TE Chase Harrell and DB Jared Mayden to futures contracts on Wednesday.
The 49ers also waived Colin Holba from their active roster and released RB Tyler Gaffney from their practice squad.
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Taylor, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2017. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.31 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.
In 2020, Taylor appeared in 12 games for the 49ers and caught 10 passes for 86 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
