The San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday that they’ve placedย DB Jimmie Ward on injured reserve and promoted CB Greg Mabin to the active roster.
- The 49ers also signed OT Bryce Harris and added DB Tyvis Powell to theirย practice squad.
The 49ers’ practice squad now consists of:
- WR DeAndre Carter
- OL John Flynn
- QB Nick Mullens
- WR DeAndre Smelter
- OL Darrell Williams Jr.
- RBย Jeremy McNichols
- OT Paceย Murphy
- TE Cole Wick
- DE Noble Nwachukwu
- DB Tyvis Powell
Ward, 26, was taken with the No. 30 overall pick back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $7.112 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.
The 49ers picked up Ward‘s fifth-year option this past May, which will cost themย $8,526,000 million for the 2018 season. Although, this figureย is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension before free agency opens next year.
In 2017, Ward appeared in seven games and recorded 32 tackles, no interceptions, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.
