Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Bay Area reports that the 49ers have placed DL D.J. Jones and DE Jordan Willis on the COVID-19 list
The COVID-19 list was created this summer for a player who either tests positive for or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons.
Players will remain on the list until they are medically cleared to return.
Jones, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2017. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year. $2.54 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $735,000 for the 2020 season.
Jones is in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
In 2020, Jones has appeared in 10 games for the 49ers and recorded 14 tackles, two sacks and a pass defense.
Willis, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Bengals back in 2017. Willis was in the third year of his four-year, $3.61 million contract when the Bengals waived him last September.
Willis was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets and later traded to the 49ers last month. He’s owed a base salary of $865,250 for the 2020 season and will be an unrestricted free agent next year.
In 2020, Willis has appeared in five games for the Jets and 49ers and recorded eight tackles, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.
