- Adam Caplan reports that the 49ers could still sign a veteran center to compete with Kilgore next year.
Kilgore, 26, was entering the final year of his rookie contract and was set to make $645,000 for the 2014 season.
According to Pro Football Focus, Kilgore played just 86 snaps all of last season, but he did contribute on special teams.
The 49ers used a fifth-round pick on him back in 2011. With Jonathan Goodwin looking like he’ll test the open market, Kilgore could very well be his replacement moving forward.
