The San Francisco 49ers officially re-signed DE Alex Barrett to a contract on Sunday.
Barrett, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of San Diego State back in 2017. He was waived a few weeks into the regular season and was on and off of Detroit’s practice squad for the past two years.
Barrett signed on with the San Diego Fleet of the AAF last year and had a brief stint with the Raiders before joining the 49ers midseason. He returned to San Francisco on a futures contract but was waived last week.
In 2019, Barrett recorded 15 tackles and two sacks in the AAF.
