The San Francisco 49ers officially signed DE Jonathan Kongbo to a futures contract on Wednesday.
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Kongbo, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Tennessee back in April. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with the No. 5 overall pick.
In 2019, Kongbo recorded 12 tackles and a sack for Winnepeg.
During his three-year college career, Kongbo recorded 51 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions and a pass defense over the course of 23 games.
