49ers Sign DL Ray Smith To Practice Squad

The 49ers announced on Tuesday they have signed DL Ray Smith to their practice squad. 

Here’s an updated look at San Francisco’s practice squad:

6. WR Chris Thompson

11. DL Ray Smith

Smith, 22, wound up going undrafted out of Boston College back in April. He later agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Lions.

However, Detroit elected to waive Smith coming out of the preseason. He was briefly signed to the practice squad before being waived again. 

During his four-year college career at Boston College, Smith recorded 137 tackles, 1.5 sacks, an interception and seven pass defenses over the course of 36 games.
