According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Bay Area reports that the 49ers are expected to have “immediate interest” in signing a starting linebacker and likely to pursue free agents C.J. Mosley, Anthony Barr and Kwon Alexander.
Mosley, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $8,788,002 rookie contract before the Ravens picked up his fifth-year option last year.
Mosley made a base salary of $8,718,000 for the 2018 season and is now in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2018, Mosley appeared in 15 games for the Ravens and recorded 105 tackles, a half sack, an interception and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 receiver out of 93 qualifying players.
Barr, 26, was taken with the No. 9 overall pick by the Vikings back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year $12,743,500 rookie contract and made a base salary of $2,157,750 for the 2017 season.
The Vikings elected to pick up his Barr’s fifth-year option, which paid him around $12.306 million for the 2018 season. He’s now in position to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2018, Barr appeared in 13 games for the Vikings and recorded 55 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 linebacker out of 93 qualifying players.
Alexander, 24, is a former fourth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,758,320 contract and set to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career next year.
Alexander is working his way back from a torn ACL he suffered last October, which should leave him in position to return around the start of training camp.
In 2018, Alexander appeared in six games and recorded 45 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and two pass defenses.
