Per Matt Maiocco, the 49ers have waived OT Sam Young on Thursday to make room for K Chase McLaughlin.
Young had become expendable with the return to health of both of San Francisco’s starting offensive tackles.
Young, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2010. He lasted just one year with Dallas before being claimed off of waivers by the Bills.
Young had a brief stint with the Jaguars before signing on with the Dolphins for the 2015 season. He was on and off of Miami’s roster before eventually signing with the 49ers this preseason.
San Francisco released Young coming out of the preseason before later bringing him back in late September.
In 2019, Young appeared in four games for the 49ers.
