According to Cam Inman, the 49ers released QB Tom Savage from their active roster on Saturday and promoted DB Tyvis Powell from their practice squad.
Savage, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.52 million contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.
The Saints signedย Savage to aย one-year, $1.5 million deal back in March, but was released coming out of the preseason. The 49ers signed him last week in order to help their scout-team, making his stint in San Francisco short-lived.
In 2017, Savage appeared in eight games and completed 56.1 percent of his passes for 1412 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions. The Texans placed him on injured reserveย after he suffered a scary concussion.
