Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports that Packers RB Aaron Jones is seeking new representation after his old reps and Green Bay were unable to reach a deal.
According to Demovsky, the Packers and Jones’ representatives have been in on-going negotiations, but it appears as though they will be starting over.
Demovsky says that, as of now, no paperwork has been filed with the NFLPA regarding Jones’ next agent.
Jones is in line to be an unrestricted free agent next year, but they still have time to work on an extension before March.
A number of notable running backs have signed extensions this year incliding Christian McCaffrey, Joe Mixon, Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook and Alvin Kamara, which leaves Jones in position to be one of the best available free agents next year.
Jones, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Packers out of UTEP back in 2017. He is in the final year of his four-year, $2.6 million rookie contract, which included a $201,948 signing bonus.
Jones earned a pay raise to $2.147 million by playing more than 35 percent of the total offensive snaps over three years, as part of the leagueโs proven performance escalators.
In 2020, Jones has appeared in 10 games for the Packers and rushed for 754 yards on 145 carries (5.2 YPC) to go along with 36 receptions for 279 yards and nine touchdowns.
We have him included in our Top 50 – 2021 Free Agents list.
