During a recent appearance on ESPN’s “NFL Live“, free agent RB Adrian Peterson listed off a number of teams he thinks could be fits for him including the Texans, Packers, Panthers, Dolphins, and Rams.
“I mentioned Houston a couple of times. I feel like Green Bay wouldn’t be a bad look as well. Carolina. There are some options out there. You know, Miami. Down there in [Los Angeles]. That would be a nice look too with Todd Gurley,” Peterson said. “You also see around the league they have a two-back system. Guys are not pounding the ball 20-30 times a game so I think that leaves the door open for a couple of opportunities for me.”
Peterson has made it clear he would love to have an opportunity to play his own team in Houston and there was some buzz about him possibly being an option for the Packers last year before they drafted three running backs.
In recent weeks, Peterson has also said that he would be willing to re-sign with the Saints, even though it didn’t work out very well for either party last year and resulted in him being traded to the Cardinals.
However, it could take an injury for an opportunity to open up for Peterson.
For the time being, Peterson has been posting workout videos online showing that he’s still in game shape and ready to go.
Peterson, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. After 10 seasons in Minnesota, Peterson signed a two-year, $7 million contract with the Saints and stands to make base salaries of $1 million and $1.05 million over the next two years.
The Saints elected to trade Peterson to the Cardinalsย for a 2018 sixth-round pick last year. However, Arizona cut him loose this past March in a move that freed up $2,881,250 of available cap space.
In 2017, Peterson appeared in 10 games for the Saints and Cardinals and rushed for 529 yards on 156 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 70 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.
We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
