Vikings Will Hold Adrian Peterson Out Of The Final Two Preseason Games

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier mentioned that they do in fact plan to hold Adrian Peterson out of the team’s final two preseason games, per Jeremy Fowler.

Frazier did make it a point to mention that this decision was made as a precautionary measure, and not because of any issues with his surgically repaired knee.

Minnesota will almost certainly approach his regular season workload with caution as well, rather than through him out there and give him 25 carries to start the season. Toby Gerhart will see plenty of carries to begin the season, before the Vikings feel comfortable with Peterson shouldering the workload.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports via twitter that Adrian Peterson is expected to sit out Friday’s game against San Diego, but the team expects Peterson to argue his case at some point.

While Peterson would like to see some playing time during the preseason, it’s probably best for Minnesota to ensure that he’s healthy as they head into the season, rather than have him take some unnecessary hits in meaningless games.
