AFC East Notes: Bills, Dolphins, Jets

Bills

New Bills QB Josh Allen explained that he called Buffalo to explain the offensive tweets that surfaced yesterday.

โ€œWe had a talk on the phone,โ€ Allen said, via Pro Football Talk. โ€œThey just basically wanted explanations for everything, and I gave them to them. I owned up to my mistakes, told them exactly what happened. They trusted me. They trusted my judgment. I think they did their due diligence in talking to my coaches, talking to teammates. Thereโ€™s never been a problem with me and my teammates. I love those guys, and I guarantee you they would say some really good things about me.โ€

Allen believes someone clearly knew what they were doing by releasing these tweets on the day of the draft.

โ€œI think somebody knew what they were doing,โ€ Allen said. โ€œThere were some tweets that were already deleted probably a few months, if a year ago. Somebody knew what they were doing. Itโ€™s out there. Itโ€™s my fault. I canโ€™t blame anybody else for my own mistakes. Success is the best revenge, . . . and the plan is to win football games and earn my teammatesโ€™ respect and my coachesโ€™ respect.โ€

Dolphins

Jets

According to Jets HC Todd Bowles, there’s no timetable for QB Sam Darnold to take over as the team’s starting quarterback.

โ€œOnce we get him in and he starts the playbook, thereย is no timetable,โ€ Bowles said, via NJ.com. โ€œWe have to see how fast he learns, and then get some experience. Weโ€™re not going to throw him in there, but at the same time, weโ€™re not going to hold him back either.โ€
