AFC East Notes: Bills, Dolphins, Patriots

Bills

A report surfaced Sunday that Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin was asked by QB Josh Allen if he wanted to work on routes during pregame workouts to which he responded: “No.”

Benjamin called the report “misinformation” and explained that he wasn’t rebuffing Allen about working together.

“It still wasn’t a question of whether, ‘Do you want to run routes?’ and I declined,” Benjamin said, per Mike Rodak. “It was just somebody just trying to take something and run with it and try to get their name out there. Pregame is the player’s choice to warm up to get ready for the game. I just feel bad for you [reporters] because I feel like that messes up a lot of the report that y’all try to put out there — the truth — to put lies out there. [That’s why] a lot of players are kind of standoffish against reporters. It sucks for y’all fellas.

Dolphins

Dolphins HC Adam Gase was asked following Sunday’s win over the Bears about QB Ryan Tannehill being unable to play in the game, due to a shoulder injury.

“I don’t know, I think there’s some kind of HIPAA law or something like that,” Gase said, via NFL.com. “I can’t talk about … I don’t know, I don’t sit there and ask him all these questions. I just know that the guy couldn’t go today. All right, go ask him. I’m tired of answering these questions.”

Patriots

  • Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that Tom Brady‘s new contract with the Patriots does not contain any language pertaining to personal trainer Alex Guerrero’s access.
  • Brady has incentives that broken down into 10 categories and worth $1 million each. The first five of which are statistical incentives for being top five in the NFL in passer rating, completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdown passes, and passing yards (minimum 224 attempts).
  • The other five incentives are the same benchmarks, but require the team to win the Super Bowl.
  • Brady received a $10 million signing bonus with $5 million of this figure being deferred to Oct. 31.
