Jets
- Rich Cimini puts the odds of the Jets re-signing their top free agents at WR Robby Anderson (25%), OLB Jordan Jenkins (50%), CB Brian Poole (65%), LT Kelvin Beachum (45%), G Alex Lewis (70%), RT Brandon Shell (5%), ILB Neville Hewitt (75%), Bilal Powell (40%), WR Demaryius Thomas (20%) and QB Trevor Siemian (25%).
- As for S Jamal Adams, Cimini doesn’t see a quick resolution this offseason, given that he’ll be looking to become the highest-paid safety in the NFL, topping Eddie Jackson‘s $14.6 million per year. Cimini adds that the Jets do have some leverage, considering that they can control Adams for three more years if they use their franchise tag.
Patriots
Veteran TE Greg Olsen, who is expected to be released by the Panthers in the coming days, said on FOX Sunday that the Patriots are trying to get Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement.
โTheyโre trying to get Gronk back. If they donโt get him, Iโm like third in line,โ Olsen said, per Jeff Howe.
Doug Kyed of NESN mentioned a few days ago he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Gronkowski returning to New England in 2020.
“And honestly, I wouldnโt completely rule out Rob Gronkowski returning if Brady comes back. And I know how ridiculous that sounds. I think Brady will need some assurances from the organization to come back to New England. That could include re-signing Danny Amendola or incentivizing Gronkowski to return. Gronkowski said this week heโs only down to 250 pounds and that he could add his weight back on quickly. Just saying, donโt completely, entirely rule it out,” Kyed wrote.
- Per ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Patriots QB Tom Brady said he has spoken with the team, but declined to elaborate: “Yeah, I have. Iโm not going to elaborate much more than that, but yes, I have. I think thatโs a pretty normal thing for me. Again, these are people that have been a part of my life for a very long time.โ
- NFL Media’s Michael Giardi says Brady isn’t necessarily demanding more than $30 million per year, which is what the Patriots are reportedly willing to pay. He does, however, feel strongly that his receiving corps needs to be upgraded.
- Patriots LS Joe Cardona recently underwent shoulder surgery. The good news is that this shouldn’t impact his offseason. (Reiss)
