AFC East Notes: Dolphins, Jets, Patriots

Dolphins

Dolphins HC Adam Gase says that QB Ryan Tannehill was able to throw a bit without pain in his shoulder.

“That was the start of their throwing progression after so many off,” Gase said, via the Miami Herald. “It seemed like it went well. It’s not like he’s out there throwing 60-yard throws. They have a progression of how they want to do it. They said it was a good first step and he felt good. So that’s a positive.

“Right now, they’re trying to get to where every day, we’re not getting him saying, ‘I’m having pain,’” Gase added. “It’s the progression of when we hit Wednesday [Nov. 21], hopefully, we can get it where they are saying, ‘Let him practice. This is where you need to keep the throws at.’ Or they just say, ‘Let him go. He’ll be all right.’ I am waiting for those directives from those guys. If we can get through this week and he feels great every day, then we got a shot [for the Colts game].”

Jets

Jets S Jamal Adams was asked during an interview with WFAN Tuesday if the bad vibes from last year have changed this season.

Honestly, I could sit here & sugarcoat everything, but things have not changed,” Adam said, per Manish Mehta. “Obviously we’re still losing. I’m not saying we have guys like that in the locker room. But at the same time, it’s not changing. It hasn’t changed. And we’ve been losing. At the end of the day, we’re going to get it fixed. And the sun will shine.

Patriots

In an interview with Jim Gray of Westwood One, Patriots QB Tom Brady admitted he can play better, but he feels good overall.

“Everything is different from one year to the next,” Brady said Monday when asked about critics who say his play appears to be slipping. “I think you keep working at it the same way. Those things haven’t changed for me. I’m sure some of my statistics have changed. But I feel good out there. And I feel like do I want to play better? I absolutely want to play better. I want to play best as I possibly can for my team, and that’s what my job is to do. Certainly, yesterday was not a great performance. I got to go out there and play my very best these next six weeks to give our team the best chance. And that’s what I want to do. That’s what I’m going to focus on these next two weeks. We got another road test. Another opportunity to go up against the Jets, a division rival in two weeks, and we got to have our best road game of the year, and that’s what I’m expecting from us.”
