AFC North Notes: Browns, Ravens, Steelers

Browns

Ravens

  • Following the retirement of Ravens G Marshal Yanda, the Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec points out that GM Eric DeCosta all but guaranteed Baltimore would draft two offensive linemen this year.
  • Zrebiec adds the Ravens could be one of the teams reportedly interested in trading for Raiders G Gabe Jackson, who would be a plug and play starter to replace Yanda.
  • Some free-agent options who would be in Baltimore’s price range include Bills G Quinton Spain, Rams G Austin Blythe, Broncos OL Connor McGovern and Colts G Joe Haeg
  • At his retirement press conference, Yanda said 2019 was the most fun he’s had playing football but he wanted to leave the game healthy: “To be able to walk away from my career on my terms is so meaningful.” (Zrebiec)
  • Yanda saw too many players stay in the game for longer than they should and lose something at the end: “I wanted to end playing well.” (Jamison Hensley)
  • Ravens C Matt Skura, who is recovering from a torn ACL, MCL, PCL, and a dislocated kneecap, said he is set to begin running within the next few weeks and is optimistic about practicing at training camp. (Alex Marvez)

Steelers

  • The Athletic’s Ed Bouchette writes he could see the Steelers choosing to move on from restricted free agent CB Mike Hilton to save a little bit of money.
  • Bouchette points out the Steelers have depth at corner and would need to put a second-round tender at $3.278 million to avoid losing Hilton, a former UDFA.
