AFC Notes: Bills, Jets, Patriots

Bills

New Bills WR Emmanuel Sanders told QB Josh Allen that he signed with Buffalo this offseason with goals to win the Super Bowl this season.

He got the chance to talk to the team this morning. He got to share his story. But the thing that he said that stuck with me, was, ‘My first year, I went to the Super Bowl and I’ve been chasing it ever since,‘” Allen said via video conference. “He’s been to three, he’s won one. But he wants another one.”

Bills OC Brian Daboll believes Sanders will be able to handle everything that is asked of him in Buffalo.

“We’ll give him as much as he can handle, which to this point he’s been able to handle all the different spots that we put him in. I think his experiences will serve him well, and we’ll just take it day by day, in terms of the installation and the things we’re asking him to do and learn” Daboll said, via BillsWire.

Jets

Jets DT Quinnen Williams said he feels relieved to undergo surgery to quickly repair a foot injury sustained last month and expects to be ready for the regular season.

“It’s definitely a relief to have it and go and get on the right process now since it’s the offseason,” Williams said, via the team’s official site. “I’ll be ready to roll. Just studying the playbook and doing the off-the-field things I need to do right now like diet, playbook. I’ve been attacking that. I can’t wait to just get ready to roll once the season starts and once that clears up.”

Williams called his foot injury a “freak accident” but is glad it occurred early on in the offseason program.

It was like a freak accident,” Williams said. “It was a freak day. … Glad it happened earlier than later.”

Williams reiterated that he’s on track with his recovery and anticipates being ready for the regular season.

“Everything has been going great, everything has been going smooth and in the right direction,” Williams said.

Patriots

  • When speaking at the Ozzie Newsome General Manager Forum on Monday, Patriots HC Bill Belichick said his approach is to simply find good football players as opposed to focusing too much on analytics: “I’d prefer good players, good fundamentals and good execution.” (D. Orlando Ledbetter
