Bills
Bills QB Josh Allen made major strides in his second season in the NFL. But accuracy was still an issue for Allen as his completion percentage was just 58.8 percent. As Buffalo looks to take the next step as a team, Allen is looking to take another step forward as a passer.
โI talked to Tony Romo for a couple hours at the Super Bowl,โ Allen said via Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. โAnd I got to talking with him about mechanics and keeping your head on the same plane, same axis, and kind of rotating around it, keeping your left arm super tight, and finding a way to throw the same exact way out of any position, whether your feet are set or not. Thatโs really been paying off. Itโs been a good thing for me, and itโs gonna continue to be something Iโll work on.โ
Jets
Jets DT Quinnen Williams wasn’t necessarily bad in his rookie year. But he didn’t have the impact many expected of the No. 3 overall pick, finishing 2019 with just 2.5 sacks and four tackles for loss. Heading into his second season, Williams has redoubled his efforts and is determined to prove his worth in 2020.
“He wants to show people, ‘I was the third overall pick for a reason,'” Williams’ personal trainer, Kevin Brown, said via ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “That’s his fire this offseason. Truly, he’s all-in. I’m like, ‘We need a Pro Bowl this year.’ The mental space he’s in now is totally on another level. This year, you guys will see a big difference in Quinnen Williams.”
The Jets still have high expectations for Williams, pointing out he’s still young and came into the NFL with just one season of starting experience in college.
“If you look back at his career at Alabama, he didn’t play a lot,” Jets LB C.J. Mosley said. “He still has a lot of raw talent in him. The more he learns and the more experience he gets on the field will make him that much better. … Guys like me and the coaches have to stay on him and make sure he’s in the right mindset. He’s definitely that guy in the middle of our defense that can wreck games.”
- Cimini points out Jets QB Sam Darnold did the same passing camp workout with teammates last year as well.
Patriots
- NBC Sports’ Tom Curran thinks the Patriots could run into issues on offense again in 2020 with the lack of speed at the skill position spots.
- According to NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah, the Patriots are the second-slowest team in the NFL based on projected starting lineups in “11” personnel in 2020.
- While the team thinks 2019 fourth-round QB Jarrett Stidham‘s mobility could unlock a new part of the offense, Curran says expecting Stidham to thrive with receivers Tom Brady struggled throwing to might be too much.
- NFL Media’s Jeffri Chadiha believes the Patriots would be a strong fit for free-agent QB Colin Kaepernick, especially if New England wants to make a mobile quarterback a bigger part of the offense.
