AFC Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Raiders

Broncos

  • Ben Volin of the Boston Globe thinks the Broncos will be more affected by the unique challenges of the 2020 season given OC Pat Shurmur is installing a new system.
  • Broncos first-round WR Jerry Jeudy has been catching passes from QB Drew Lock daily at workouts. (Mike Klis)

Chargers

  • According to Chargers Wire’s Gavino Borquez, Chargers CBs Casey Hayward and Chris Harris are locked into roles as the No. 1 corner and starting slot corner headed into 2020.
  • At the other outside corner spot, Borquez expects Michael Davis to compete with Brandon Facyson for the starting role.
  • The addition of Harris muddies the waters for Chargers CB Desmond King, who was Los Angeles’ starting slot corner in 2019. Borquez said the Chargers could still find snaps for King as a dime linebacker or on special teams.
  • Borquez also mentions Chargers CB Quenton Meeks as someone who could round out the final roster and win a spot.

Raiders

  • According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vincent Bonsignore, Raiders HC Jon Gruden and the rest of the coaching staff will start working out of the team’s new Nevada facility in Henderson once construction wraps up in around two weeks.
  • AL.com’s Wesley Sinor reports Raiders first-round WR Henry Ruggs III is using crutches following an accident while helping a friend move. Ruggs sustained a puncture or laceration to his thigh.
