AFC Notes: Chiefs, Dolphins, Jets

Chiefs

Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt told reporters after Sunday’s game that they simply felt cutting RB Kareem Hunt was in the best interests of the franchise and the running back.

“It was a collective decision,” said Hunt, via NFL.com. “Everyone was on board with it. I don’t think we were necessarily trying to make a statement, we just felt that the best thing for the Kansas City Chiefs moving forward was for us to part ways with Kareem.

“We were obviously shocked by the video, I think like anybody who saw it, and we had some issues with Kareem not being truthful about what had happened that night. We just really felt for everybody’s best interest, we needed to head in a different direction.”

Dolphins

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Dolphins CB Xavien Howard recently underwent arthroscopic surgery to trim a meniscus injury. Rapoport explains that this is a minor procedure and Howard hasn’t been ruled out for Week 15 yet.

Jets

  • Rich Cimini of ESPN writes that the Jets could look to trade their first-round pick in 2019 to a team interested in moving up for a quarterback to pick up some more draft capital to work with.
  • If the Jets end up with the No. 1 overall pick, Cimini mentions Ohio State DE Nick Bosa as an obvious target for New York.
