AFC Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Texans, Titans

Colts

  • Per the Athletic’s Zak Keefer, the Colts believe WR Parris Campbell would need a “minor miracle” to return from his MCL injury and is out for the remainder of the season.
  • Colts QB Philip Rivers (toe) missed practice Wednesday for precautionary reasons. (Joel Erickson)
  • Colts P Rigoberto Sanchez‘s surgery to remove a cancerous tumor went well, per HC Frank Reich: “Procedure went very well. He’s at home resting. We’re very optimistic… Prognosis is very positive.” (Stephen Holder)

Jaguars

  • Per ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, Jaguars HC Doug Marrone says QB Gardner Minshew‘s thumb is fine and he’s been fully cleared by the trainers.
  • Marrone didn’t rule out Minshew returning to the starting lineup at some point during the remainder of the season.

Texans

  • Per Fox 26’s Mark Berman, Texans interim HC Romeo Crennel didn’t rule out WR Kenny Stills returning if he wanted, as Houston didn’t realize WR Will Fuller would be suspended when they cut Stills this weekend: “…Both sides were agreeable to the decision that was made and agreed to move on. Whether he comes back or not, that’s something that we’ll figure out. If he does, he does. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t.”
  • The Texans plan to work out QB Brian Lewerke this week, an undrafted rookie previously with the Patriots. (Aaron Wilson)

Titans

Titans OL coach Keith Carter praised OT David Quessenberry for his ascent up the team’s depth chart to eventually start in Week 12.

“I know Ques is like the poster child for why you coach. He’s been through so much, but his persistence and passion is unmatched,” Carter said, via Terry McCormick of TitansInsider. “As bad as your day, you know when you get around Ques, he’s gonna have a positive attitude, and he’s gonna work his butt off. He’s kind of always that beacon of hope and energy, because just his whole process and the way he views life and kind of attacks each day is infectious. I’m just so happy for him.”

Carter added that Quessenberry has been an inspiration to coaches and players around the Titans’ locker room.
