Bills
Bills QB Josh Allen said the team has studied its latest playoff loss, learned from it and is focused on continuing to give itself opportunities to break through.
“I mean, definitely we’ve watched it, we’ve put it in the past, we’ve learned from it,” Allen said, via PFT. “We’ve been in the playoffs a lot of times in the last however many years I’ve been here now. And just continuing to find ways to learn from it. It’s a hard pill to swallow sometimes because we haven’t gotten it done. But you knock enough at the door, it’s going to open at some point. That’s what we have to keep doing, is keep knocking on that door and giving ourselves chances to be in that situation again.”
Ravens
Ravens RB Derrick Henry enters the 11th year of his career but made clear he has no intention to retire in the immediate future. Jesse Minter has been impressed by Henry’s work ethic since coming aboard as Baltimore’s head coach and feels he’s a “one of a kind” type of player.
“The way that guy goes about his business is really impressive,” Minter said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN. “You play against him and you realize how big he really is. And then he walks into your office, and man, for that dude to be playing running back with the size and skill set that he [has] is definitely one of a kind.”
Henry remains focused on winning a Super Bowl.
“If I haven’t got it by Year 11, then I don’t know when I’m going to get it,” Henry said. “But yes, that’s always been my focus — wanting to be better, wanting to do better than the year before and wanting to win the championship. So that’s the No. 1 goal, always.”
Steelers
Steelers HC Mike McCarthy said RB Rico Dowdle fits what he looks for at the position because of his ability to contribute on every down.
“I mean, Rico is a hell of a football player,” McCarthy said, via Steelers Wire. “I mean, when I view the running back position, you know, the first question I ask when we’re doing the evaluations, can he play all four downs?”
McCarthy said pairing Dowdle with Jaylen Warren gives Pittsburgh flexibility because both backs can stay on the field in any situation.
“So, to be able to get Rico here and to pair him with Jaylen, I mean it excites me because I know my personal preference as a play caller,” McCarthy explained. “I don’t want to have to worry what backs in there. So, you know, if it’s third down, I just run our stuff and both those guys give us that that flexibility.”
McCarthy said he believes the Steelers have a strong backfield tandem in Dowdle and Warren.
“We really got a dynamic one-two punch in my opinion,” McCarthy added.
