Bills GM Brandon Beane made it clear that they still believe RB LeSean McCoy can still be an impact player or he wouldn’t be on their roster.
“I think LeSean still can play. If not, we would have made the decision to move on. I think he’s embraced the competition this spring,” Beane said, via NewYorkUpstate.com. “He’s very confident, when you talk to him, that he still sees himself up here. And I don’t think you’re changing that. And I wouldn’t want him to think any different. But we’re focused on this year. That’s what we have him under contract for, and I definitely think he’s got enough left in the tank to help us in 2019.”
Leading up to this year’s draft, there were a lot of rumors about the Bills possibly trading up into the top five of this year’s draft.
Bills GM Brandon Beane confirms that they spoke to the Jets about moving up to No. 3 overall, but the talk was “definitely overblown.”
“I talked to pretty much every team between two and three days leading up to the draft,” Beane said, via WGR 550. “So I think sometimes people are looking for anybody to move up. Yes, they called us a couple times and we had conversations. I assume like anything, if you’re really trying to move out you’re trying to drum up business, that’s the fairest way to put it.
“We thought it was a deep draft so it wasn’t something where I was thinking, ‘man, we’re really going to move up in this thing.’ But if somebody offers you something that you think is an unbelievable value for the player you’re getting, you have to look at it. But I don’t think it was something that was close to happening.”
