AFC South Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Texans

Colts

Colts HC Frank Reich said QB Andrew Luck is sitting out this week’s OTAs because they are being “conservative” with him. Luck is not expected to miss an extended period.

I would anticipate where we are at right now, we will just say, ‘Hey, play conservative this week,’” Reich said, via George Bremer of the Herald Bulletin. “Let’s just (do) nothing this week, and then we will re-evaluate after this week and see where he is. I don’t anticipate him being out the whole (spring) camp, no.”

Reich added that the Colts will not rush players who are dealing with injuries back to practice this spring.

My whole mode and our whole mode during this session is just to be real conservative with guys — anybody who has any issue whatsoever,” Reich said. “I told (director of sports medicine) Erin Barill and (head athletic trainer Dave) Hammer, ‘Let’s just be conservative with these guys.’ The main thing is to get to camp at full strength. So really any player who has any issue, we are just going to be overcautious.”

Jaguars

  • Jaguars OC John DeFilippo said of RB Leonard Fournette: “He’s a big guy who can run fast. … He’s going to be a major reason where our offense goes. I’m not going to sugarcoat that.” (Phillip Heilman)
  • Jaguars first-round DE Josh Allen bruised his knee on Tuesday, but HC Doug Marrone said of whether there’s any concern: “Nothing, zero.” (Phillip Heilman)

Texans

  • Regarding Texans franchise OLB Jadeveon Clowney, Aaron Wilson says there’s really nothing new with his status right now.
  • Barring unexpected development, Wilson mentions that Clowney is expected to miss entire offseason program and at least part of training camp.
