Colts
- The Athletic’s Zak Keefer points out that despite multiple outside connections linking the Colts to a veteran quarterback like Philip Rivers, signing one as a stopgap would be antithetical to the team-building process GM Chris Ballard preaches.
- Keefer adds the Colts are still internally higher on QB Jacoby Brissett than many outside fans and observers are. He does say, however, that doesn’t mean the Colts won’t try to upgrade if they see a free agent or draft prospect who could be significantly better.
- The Colts announced the hires of Matt Raich as special defensive assistant/assistant DL coach and Jerrod Johnson as offensive QC coach. (Twitter)
Texans
- Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer mentions Texans DT D.J. Reader as a player who’s set to cash in on the open market in free agency this year.
- Breer says it would make sense for Jaguars CB A.J. Bouye to return to the Texans if the Jaguars end up releasing him.
Titans
- ESPN’s Turron Davenport lists Titans RB Dion Lewis ($4 million cap savings), K Ryan Succop ($2 million), DE Cameron Wake ($5.5 million) and TE Delanie Walker ($6.4 million) as potential cap casualties.
- This would net the Titans $17.9 million of cap room to work with this offseason.
