Amari Cooper: I Want To Be A Dallas Cowboy For Life”

Cowboys free agent WR Amari Cooper said in an interview with 105.3 The Fan on Thursday that he wants to be “a Dallas Cowboy for life.”

“I love being a Dallas Cowboy,” Cooper said. “I think about it almost every day. Just the aura of being a Dallas Cowboy, you can’t beat it. I want to be a Dallas Cowboy for life.”

Last we heard regarding Cooper, Josina Anderson reported that contract negotiations between the two parties are expected to intensify “very soon.”

However, there have been no indications that a deal to keep Cooper in Dallas for the foreseeable futures is close at this point in time.

Cooper is in line to be one of the best available free agents, assuming the Cowboys use their franchise tag on QB Dak Prescott before the upcoming deadline.

Cooper, 25, is a former No. 4 overall pick by the Raiders out of Alabama in the 2015 NFL Draft. The Raiders traded him to the Cowboys for a first-round pick midway through the 2018 season.

Cooper played out the final year of his four-year, $22.7 million contract, but his fifth-year option which cost them $13,924,000 for 2019. He’s set to be an unrestricted free agent.

In 2019, Cooper appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and caught 79 passes for 1,189 yards receiving and eight touchdowns.

We have him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
