Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Interested In Purchasing NFL Team

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is interested in purchasing an NFL team and has become close with several current owners.

League sources tell La Canfora that Bezos has strong support within the league to eventually join the ownership ranks. Bezos watched the last Super Bowl from commissioner Roger Goodell’s suite and has the support of influential owners like Jerry Jones.

As of now, there are no franchises currently on the market, but La Canfora notes that the Seattle Seahawks will be sold at some point following the death of Paul Allen last year and there is “considerable concern” in the league office about the lawsuits from various heirs to the Denver Broncos.

Bezos has reportedly been spending “considerable time” around owners including Dan Snyder and is in the process of moving to Washington. La Canfora mentions that Bezos could end up helping Snyder get a downtown stadium he’s been seeking in D.C.

We’ll have more regarding Bezos as the news is available.
