Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that free agent DE Andre Carter is looking for a long-term contract in the range of three-to-four years from the New England Patriots.
Carter has made it known that he would prefer to return to the Patriots this season, rather shop around for a new opportunity, but the fact that heโs seeking a multi-year contract could be an inhibiting factor. New England is reportedly willing to offer him a similar contract to the one he signed with them last year, which was a one-year deal worth $2.75 million.
Carter, 33, is coming off of quad injury that cost him the opportunity to participate in the teamโs playoff run last season. It would really be surprising to see him secure anything better than a one-year deal, as he figures to be an obvious candidate to start the season on the PUP list.
