Antonio Brown Still Planning To Return To NFL For 2020 Season

The Associated Press reported Tuesday morning that a Florida judge freed NFL free agent Antonio Brown from house arrest and will allow him to travel freely as he awaits trial on charges stemming from an incident in which he allegedly attacked the driver of a moving truck.

Brown is no longer required to wear an ankle GPS monitor, but he will need to check in with court personnel daily. Brown’s $110,000 bail remains in place and he still must surrender his passport, possess no weapons or ammunition, and submit to a mental health evaluation and random drug testing.

USA Today later caught up with Brown, who said he’s still planning to be back in the NFL for the 2020 season.

I’m planning to come back to the NFL,” Brown said. “I think I’ve got a shot.

Brown admitted that he “put [himself] in a bad predicament” and wasn’t going to make excuses.

“I put myself in a bad predicament,” Brown said. “I’m out of it now, man. Unfortunate situation, but we don’t make excuses and we’re going to make the best of it.

Brown turned himself in to police on Thursday after police recently issued a warrant for his arrest. He allegedly threw rocks at a moving company truck and then attacked the driver over a dispute stemming from payment for a scheduled delivery.

The NFL has yet to hand down punishment as part of their ongoing investigation in Brown dating back to last year. The overall expectation is that he will be suspended once the NFL has concluded their review the several incidents involving Brown.

Brown, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2010. He was in the third year of his five-year, $72.71 million contract when the Steelers traded him to the Raiders back in March.

The Raiders later signed Brown to a new contract worth $50.125 million and includes $30.125 million guaranteed. However, Oakland made the decision to release Brown before the start of the season and he later signed a one-year deal worth up to $15 million with the Patriots.

Brown lasted just 11 days in New England.

In 2019, Brown appeared in one game for the Patriots and caught four passes for 56 yards receiving and one touchdown.
