The Chicago Bears announced Wednesday that they’ve claimed TE J.P. Holtz off of waivers from the Redskins and waived DL Abdullah Anderson.
Holtz, 26, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh back in 2016. Cleveland signed him to their practice squad and re-signed him to a one-year futures contract the next offseason.
After bouncing on and off the Browns’ practice squad, he signed on with the Redskins last summer but was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. Holtz once again waived at the start of the regular season before recently being promoted.
Washington waived Holtz on Tuesday.
During his four-year college career at Pittsburgh, Holtz recorded 81 receptions for 931 yards receiving (11.5 YPC) and 11 touchdowns.
