Bears Close To Hiring Chiefs Scouting Director Phil Emery?

Reports have since come out that the Bears will bring back both Phil Emery and Jason Licht for another round of interviews.

Emery was reportedly telling people at the Senior Bowl that he was going to get the job but that may have been a little overly optimistic on his part.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Chicago Bears are “on the verge” of hiring Chiefs scouting director Phil Emery as their new general manager.

McGinn adds that his sources have informed him that it’s “just a matter now of dotting the i’s.”

Chicago fired Jerry Angelo following a disappointing end to an initially promising season for the Bears. So far the team has interviewed five candidates for the position but Emery appears to have the job in hand at this point.
