Bears Could Be A Team To Watch In Regards To Jim Harbaugh?

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports mentioned that the Chicago Bears are a team to “keep an eye on” in regards to 49ers HC Jim Harbaugh, per Mike Garafolo.

Chicago is widely expected to part ways with HC Marc Trestman after a disastrous second-year and you would have to think that they’d be interested in bringing in Harbaugh to get them back to being an contender in the NFC North.

Harbaugh played quarterback for the Bears several years ago and seems like a great fit to help them change the locker room culture.

At this point in time, it seems like a forgone conclusion that Harbaugh will not be back with the 49ers next year. However, recent reports mentioned that the University of Michigan are offering him a six-year deal worth around $49 million, which would make him the highest paid coach in college game.

Harbaugh would reportedly like to remain in the NFL next year, but the fact that it would likely require a trade and compensation could cloud the situation to some degree.

The Bears have a number of roster holes to address, especially on the defensive side of the ball, so parting with a package of draft picks for Harbaugh could be a setback for their development. Even so, Chicago will have plenty of cap space available to address roster needs in free agency.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported earlier in the day that the Bears were among the teams with interest in Cardinals DC Todd Bowles.

Other speculative coaching options for the Bears could include: Jets HC Rex Ryan, Broncos OC Adam Gase, and Patriots OC Josh McDaniels.
