Bears Hiring Brad Childress As Senior Offensive Assistant

The Chicago Bears announced Wednesday that they’ve hired Brad Childress as a senior offensive assistant.

Childress, 62, began his NFL coaching career with the Eagles as their QBs coach back in 1999. He spent seven years in Philadelphia before he was hired as the Vikings head coach in 2006.

Childress was fired by the Vikings after five years in Minnesota and he had a brief stint with the Browns before joining the Chiefs’ coaching staff in 2013. He was the team’s offensive coordinator in 2016 before being moved to assistant head coach in 2017.

The Bears hired Childress as an assistant last year before he agreed to serve as head coach of the AAF’s Atlanta Legends. However, that didn’t work out.

During his time as the Vikings’ head coach, Childress led them to a record of 39-35 (52.7 percent), which includes two playoff appearances.
