Bears Place G Matt Slauson On Season-Ending I.R. & Promote TE Blake Annen

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Bears are officially placing G Matt Slauson on season-ending injured reserve Saturday.

  • Biggs adds that the Bears are also promoting TE Blake Annen to their active roster.

Slauson, 28, was diagnosed with a torn pectoral a few weeks ago and the general expectation was that his 2014 season was coming to an end.

Chicago signed him to a four-year, $12.8 million contract that included $4.9 million guaranteed back in January. He has base salaries of $2.75 million (2015), $2.85 million (2016), $2.9 million (2017) coming his way over the remainder of this contract.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 guard out of 78 qualifying players this season.
