Bears RB Matt Forte Looking To Best Marshawn Lynchโ€™s Recent Contract

Sean Jenson of the Chicago Sun-Times writes that the recent contract that Marshawn Lynchโ€˜s received from the Seattle Seahawks figures to to be the โ€œfloorโ€ in regards to a contract extension for Bears RB Matt Forte.

Seattle gave Lynch a four-year deal worth $32 million and includes $18 million guaranteed. Forte has been said to be looking for a deal that would include over $20 million in guarantees which could make Arian Fosterโ€˜s recent five year, $43.5 million extension, that guarantees him $20.75 million over the duration of the deal, a better comparison.

New Bears GM Phil Emery said that they plan to keep Forte โ€œin 2012 and beyondโ€ but that will require them to actually engage in serious negotiations instead of making statements through the media.
