Bears Re-Sign ERFA OT Rashaad Coward & TE J.P. Holtz

The Chicago Bears officially re-signed exclusive rights free agent OT Rashaad Coward and TE J.P. Holtz to one-year deals for the 2020 season on Monday.

Exclusive rights contracts are one-year contracts worth the minimum salary based on the number of years a player has accrued.

Coward, 25, signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion back in 2017. He was coming out of the preseason, but was later re-signed to the Bears’ practice squad.

Chicago elected to promote Coward to their active roster towards the end of the 2017 season and he managed to make the 53-man roster each of the past two years.

In 2019, Coward appeared in 13 games for the Bears and made 10 starts for them.
