Chicago elects to bring back Sowell after cutting him just a few days ago, moving on from Whyte who was a seventh-round pick in this past year’s draft.
Sowell, 30, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi back in 2012. He lasted just a year in Tampa Bay before he was later signed off of their practice squad by the Colts.
Sowell had short stints with the Cardinals and Seahawks before he signed a one-year contract with the Bears in 2017. He returned to Chicago the following year on a two-year deal.
In 2019, Sowell has appeared in two games for the Bears, but has yet to record a statistic.
