Wilson, 34, signed a three-year deal worth $5 million that included a $1 million signing bonus with the Patriots last year. However, the former Cardinal spent the entire season on injured reserve following an Achilles injury.
The Patriots cut Wilson loose back in early April and hasn’t found any reported interest before the Bears signed him to a contract.
Chicago is expected to start Ryan Mundy and possibly evenย fourth-round pick S Brock Vereen, as reports from Bears’ offseason workouts have mentioned that the team has been impressed with Vereen thus far.
Wilson should have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot during training camp while offering some veteran leadership.
