Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that the Chicago Bears are signing Arena Leagueย WR/KR A.J. Cruz to a contract.
- According to Ian Rapoport, Bears GM Ryan Pace views Cruz in the Wes Welker slot receiver mold.
Cruz is listed at 5’9 and 195 lbs on the Arizona Rattlers’ website. In 2014, he apepared in 11 games for Arizona and recorded five receptions for 24 yards receiving and a touchdowns. He also returned 58 kickoffs for 1,305 yards.
During his college career at Brown, Cruz earned First Team All-American honors as a senior and was one of only 41 players in Ivy League history to earn First Team All-Ivy three times.
