Bears Tried Out Four RBs Including Lamar Miller

The Chicago Bears brought in four free agent running backs for tryouts on Wednesday including RB Lamar Miller, according to Albert Breer.Lamar Miller

The full list of tryouts includes:

  1. RB Dayln Dawkins
  2. RB Tavien Feaster
  3. RB Lamar Miller
  4. RB Jonathan Williams

Miller recently visited with the Bills and Colts. 

Miller, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with Miami before agreeing to a four-year, $26 million contract that included $14 million guaranteed with the Texans back in 2016.

Miller made a base salary of $5.5 million for the 2019 season and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason before signing on with the Patriots. New England released him coming out of training camp. 

In 2018, Miller appeared in 13 games for the Texans and rushed for 917 yards on 193 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 23 receptions for 163 yards receiving and five total touchdowns.

Williams, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bills back in 2016. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract when the Bills waived him coming out of the preseason.

Williams had a brief stint on to the Broncos’ practice squad before joining the Saints in 2018. New Orleans cut Williams coming out of the preseason last year and he had a brief stint on their practice squad before he was signed to the Colts’ taxi squad. He was later promoted to the active roster.

The Lions signed him to a contract back in August but was among their final roster cuts and joined their practice squad. He was just recently cut loose.

In 2019, Williams appeared in nine games and rushed for 235 yards on 49 carries (4.8 YPC) and one touchdown. He also caught five passes for 59 yards.
