Bears Will Pick Up OLB Leonard Floyd’s Fifth-Year Option

Bears HC Ryan Pace announced Monday that they will pick up OLB Leonard Floyd‘s fifth-year option before the April deadline, per Jeff Dickerson.

According to Joel Corry, the franchise tag for linebackers should teams around $15,591,000 for the 2019 season.

Floyd, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Bears back in 2016. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $15.7 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $2.6 million for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Floyd appeared in all 16 games and recorded 47 tackles, four sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, a fumble recovery, and four pass defenses for the Bears.
