Ben Roethlisberger Wants To Play At Least Three More Seasons

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has told teammates he wants to play at least another three years.

It was just a year ago that Roethlisberger was weighing retirement. However, he told reporters after Sunday’s game that he plans on returning for the 2018 season.

“I plan on coming back next year,”ย Roethlisberger said, perย Ron Cook.

“I definitely have a desire to play football. I love this game, I love these guys,”ย Roethlisberger said, per Aditi Kinkhabwala. “I don’t know who’s coming back, but I know the guys up front are and that makes it good for me. So I look forward to next year with these guys.

Roethlisberger, 35, is in the second year of his five-year, $99 million contract that includes $64 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $17.75 million for the 2016 season.

In 2017, Roethlisberger appeared in 15 games for the Steelers and threw for 4,251 yards while completing 64.2 percent of his passes to go along with 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 quarterback out of 39 qualifying players.
