Bengals HC Zac Taylor announced Friday that they’re activating CB Darius Phillips from injured reserve and placing G Alex Redmond on injured reserve with a season-ending elbow injury, per Ben Baby.
Phillips, 24, was drafted in the fifth round by the Bengals out of Western Michigan in 2018. He’s in the second year of a four-year, $2.7 million rookie contract.
The Bengals officially designated Phillips to return a few weeks ago.
In 2019, Phillips has appeared in three games for the Bengals and recorded one tackle, one interception and one pass defense. He’s also added 137 kickoff return yards.
Redmond, 24, signed with the Bengals in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA. He did not make the final roster, but the Bengals signed him to the practice squad for the season.
Redmond was re-signed by the Bengals on a futures deal for the 2017 season. Cincinnati re-signed Redmond as an exclusive rights free agent earlier this offseason.
In 2019, Redmond appeared in three games for the Bengals and made two starts for them.
