The Bengals announced Monday they have placed DT D.J. Reader on injured reserve and filled his spot on the roster by signing DT Xavier Williams.

Reader will be out the rest of the season after suffering a quad injury Sunday. Williams will try to help patch a leaky Bengals run defense as his replacement.
Reader, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Texans back in 2016. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.55 million contract with the Texans.
The Bengals signed Reader to a four-year, $53 million deal this past March.
In 2020, Reader appeared in five games for the Bengals and recorded 18 tackles, no sacks and a pass defense.
