A report from Thursday mentioned that Westerman did not make the trip with the team and was considering retiring and this roster move fits with that.
Teams generally place players on the left squad list when they’re retiring from the NFL.
Westerman, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2016. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.57 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $720,000 for the 2019 season.
Westerman is in line to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career next year.
In 2018, Westerman appeared in 14 games for the Bengals, but did not start in any of the contests.
