The Cincinnati Bengals announced Monday that they’ve placed WR James Wright on waivers.
Wright, 25, was a seventh-round selection of the Bengals back in 2014. He wound up making the team’s 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later waived with an injury designation in July of 2015.
After clearing waivers, Wright reverted to the team’s injured reserve list where he remained for the entire season.
Wright is in the final year of his four-year, $2,269,824 contract and stands to make a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, waiving Wright will free up $690,000 of available cap space while creating $12,456 in dead money.
In 2016, Wright appeared in 13 games and caught 13 passes for 106 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
