Schmidt, 26, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Davis back in 2013. He lasted a little over a month with the team before he was placed on waivers. The Browns claimed him shortly after, but was cut loose after just a few days.
Ha later signed a future/reserve contract with San Francisco only to be waived. The Bills signed Schmidt back in 2014 and he successfully gained a starting role with the team.
In 2016, Schmidt appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and recorded 75 total punts for 2,921 yards and three touchbacks.
